Additionally, researchers found that when tested against a traditional ADHD medication such as methylphenidate or dextroamphetamine, children found greater relief from their symptoms using Modafinil.
Clinical trials showed that modafinil is an effective medication for ADHD in children, and is as effective if not more effective than traditional medications such as methylphenidate or dextroamphetamine. Furthermore, no negative side effects were recorded in the clinical case studies, as opposed to weight loss and difficulty sleeping which was recorded for both methylphenidate or dextroamphetamine.
It is worth noting that modafinil has not been approved as a treatment for ADHD, and you should consult your doctor or healthcare professional before taking modafinil or giving it to your doctor.
About 6 months ago I started taking Modafinil to see how it would affect my ADHD. After the first month of taking it semi-regularly I decided that I had decided that I was going to perpetually self-medicate.
Since then I've lost 35 pounds, and quit drinking (5 months now).
I read books now, one every week or two, and I could never keep focused long enough to do that before.
I now start AND FINISH projects! I just finished stripping, sanding, and painting my bicycle with a custom frame.
It definitely does help my ADHD. 50mg is the perfect dose for managing ADHD symptoms in my experience. Any more and I have a lot of negative side effects later in the day. I go from restless legs, could care less about what my teacher says, and loads of social anxiety to calm, focused, taking notes and having some interest in the lecture, and a slight reduction in social anxiety. It is one of the best things I have taken for ADHD and I can assure you I have tried more substances and nootropics than you could imagine.
Switch from Ritalin to Modafinil a couple of years ago and it's the best decision I've made when it comes to medication. It does take away some emotions en will to socialize. It also negatively affects creativity.
But compared to Ritalin, Modafinil is a smooth sailing dream
I do take it, 400mg/day. Some days I take a vacation, but I'm prescribed for 400mg/day. It really helps me and without it I'm usually a mess. A lot better than Adderall, which was starting to jack me up. Modanifil helps me stay awake, and helps with my focus. So glad I'm on it, heard about it from my Father in Law who's on it. My doctor (Rural Wyoming) think Adderall is the only medication for ADHD, and to keep upppingthe dose until it works or tough luck.
I take 200mg and it helps a lot . As a person who’s not able to focus for more than 10 - 20 minutes Or to sit still and focus on something for more than 15 minutes . I’m now actually Able to sit down and study/work for up to 4-6 hours . But it will make you sooo sooo dehydrated , I literally drink 2-3 litres on modafinil and sometimes I get a super hard / fast heartbeat only when I start overthinking / get anxiety
I tried Ritalin, Adderall XR, regular adderall... it was all too hard on my body and I kept wanting to redose so frequently that I felt I was actually doing damage to my body.
